Around 24% of Americans surveyed admitted that they don’t bother cleaning their cars, because they know it will just get messy again later. Are you part of that percentage?
It’s ok to admit it!
However, if you want to keep your car in good shape, then it’s worth it to get it detailed regularly. But what exactly is car detailing and is it really necessary for your vehicle?
You’ve come to the right place for guidance. Keep reading to learn what’s included in car detailing services and why it’s important for your car.
What Is Car Detailing?
You might think that car detailing is synonymous with a regular car wash, but it’s so much more than that. While a detailing job does include a wash, it goes beyond that, with the goal of bringing the car back to like-new condition.
As its name suggests, it’s a much more detailed process, whereas a regular wash is more surface level. Car detailing is also done by hand, instead of using an automated car wash. This allows for a more meticulous process, where no detail is overlooked.
While you can certainly attempt detailing yourself, it’s best to leave it to the professionals, if you want to keep your car in the best shape possible. Then, you can supplement with washes yourself in between detailing appointments.
Typical Auto Detailing Services
While all detailer services will vary slightly, there are a few standard services you can expect to receive when you schedule a detailing appointment Here at Hybrid Mobile Detailing, we offer three tiers of services, based on what best fits your needs, in addition to specialty services.
If you choose our team to detail your car, here’s a good idea of what you can expect to happen.
Interior Car Detailing
First, we’ll wipe down and clean all interior surfaces in the car. You’ll also have the option to select a shine finish on plastic areas in the car and conditioner for leather seats.
We’ll also vacuum all carpeted areas of the car like the floors, mats, seats, and trunk, removing debris as we go. For a deeper clean, select our Ultimate Detail package, which includes shampooing the seats, mats, and carpet. Additionally, we’ll power steam areas in the car that get the most traffic, or you can opt to have the whole interior power steamed.
We’ll also clean the inside and outside of all windows, so you have no problem seeing out. Then, we’ll apply a UV protectant so your car’s interior isn’t damaged by the sun and clean the doors and jambs.
Exterior Car Detailing
We’ll also pay special attention to the exterior, washing and drying it by hand, so you don’t have to worry about the damage that sometimes occurs with an automatic car wash.
We’ll clean the tires and rims and you can opt for a spray-on wax additive, to help keep your car looking great and protected for months. If your car’s exterior has a lot of contaminants, you’ll want to select our Ultimate Detail option, which also includes a clay bar treatment to help your paint shine and give it a nice, glossy feel.
As a result, your car will look almost as good as it did on the day you drove it off the lot.
If it’s been a while since your car was last detailed, regular service may not be enough to get it back in tip-top shape. In that case, you may need a specialty service, like our High-End Wax treatment, where we use a clay bar on the entire car, followed by a high-end wax application by hand.
You can also opt for more detailed interior cleaning services, which include deep cleaning all the crevices within your car, like cupholders. In that case, we’ll also clean your seatbelts, remove interior stains, and clean any interior compartments. This is the best option if you want to give your car’s interior a refreshed look.
Why Is Detailing Your Car Important?
If you consider yourself a gearhead, you know that nothing can compare to the look and smell of a brand new car. Unfortunately, most of us can’t replace our car each year, so regular detailing is the next best thing.
By getting your car detailed, you’ll keep it looking great, which can also make for a more comfortable driving experience. Just as many of us have trouble concentrating in a messy workspace, you may find that driving a dirty car is distracting.
Getting your car detailed can also help it retain its value because it will look in better shape than other comparable cars that haven’t been well maintained. If you’re planning to sell your car in the near future, data shows that clean cars sell for more money on average, so it pays to get your car detailed.
How Often Should You Get Your Car Detailed?
Ultimately, this is up to you. If keeping a clean car is important to you, consider getting it detailed monthly. Otherwise, a good rule of thumb is to get it done three to four times a year. If nothing else, you should get it detailed after long road trips, which tend to leave your car in rough shape.
Of course, we believe that your car can never look too nice, so our philosophy is that more is always better!
